About the event

We hope you'll join us for the second evening of Closing Credits: An End-of-Life Film Series with a screening of A Family Undertaking.  Each film in the series offers a deep dive into different facets of the complex, beautiful, and humbling realm of death and dying.

This film explores the growing home funeral and natural burial movements through several family's personal experiences taking ownership of their  loved one's funeral plans. This is a beautiful and approachable film that not only offers perspective on the many social, economic, and political considerations that drive end-of-life decisions, but also the deeply personal ones as well.

Join us in Gordon Avenue Library's Century Room for the screening, followed by an engaging discussion led  by experts from Hospice of the Piedmont, Panorama Natural Burial, and Woven Roots Collective. This is an opportunity to share your thoughts   about the film, contemplate living and dying, discuss options for end-of-life care, and better understand after-death practices, funerals, and burials. This is a partner program with Gordon Avenue Library.

The film series will culminate in the second annual Death Fest: Gather, Grieve Grow, an all-day community gathering to explore the natural cycles of life and death on Sunday, Nov 3, at Montfair Resort Farm in White Hall, VA.

Closing Credits is a collaborative effort by Hospice of the Piedmont, Panorama Natural Burial, and Woven Roots Collective to foster open conversations about life's final chapter. Other films in the series include:
