**Notice of prescribed fire and cemetery closure**
On Sunday, March 11, 2026, we will be conducting a prescribed burn of a 6-acre section of the cemetery. The burn will be administered by Piedmont Discovery Center (PDC) as part of our ongoing regenerative ecosystem restoration efforts. As a result, the cemetery will be closed for the day. Please note, this is an authorized, supervised activity. Smoke may be visible in the area. Be assured that safety is our number one priority. Please note that the local fire department has been notified and is aware that the burn will be taking place. PDC will host a Q&A session at the cemetery in the week following the burn for those who are interested in learning more. We encourage you to visit in the weeks after the burn to bear witness to the ongoing effects of the process. Just a note that prescribed burning requires a narrow range of weather conditions in order to be conducted safely and effectively. While conditions are looking favorable for Sunday, should that change, updates will be posted here and to our newsletter (sign-up below).

A new chapter in a long legacy

Preservation. Conservation. Community.

Natural burial is a new idea that is thousands of years old
With natural burial our bodies become the earth. There is no metal casket, burial vault, or embalming fluid. Markers are simple, engraved stones indigenous to the area.
At Panorama Natural Burial, bodies return to the earth in death to feed new life.
