Book Reading: The Age of Deer

We are so excited to welcome local author Erika Howsare to the burial ground to read from her newly released book, The Age of Deer: Trouble and Kinship with our Wild Neighbors.

The Age of Deer dives deep into our connection with this prolific ungulate, from a natural history to a sociocultural commentary, and all the paradox that lies between. Join us under a canopy of trees for a warm beverage (to be provided) and a guided exploration of the human-deer relationship.

Erika holds an MFA in literary arts from Brown University and has published two books of poetry. She has worked in local journalism for the last twenty years covering culture and environmental issues. She teaches writing and contributes reviews and essays to various national outlets. A native of Pennsylvania, she lives in Nelson County where she shares her wooded homestead with her family and whatever deer and other creatures happen to pass through.
